AUDI R8
2016-2024
The second generation of this mid-engined sports car made going fast ridiculously easy
THE LADY IN front of you in the post office queue pioneered a surgical procedure that would go on to save hundreds of lives. The chap standing behind you swam the English Channel last week. To look at either of these people right now, you’d have no idea of their enviable prior achievements.
You could say the same thing about Audi. Starring in the German car maker’s current model range is a cast of talented but sensible hatchbacks, SUVs, executive saloons and electric cars – none of which holds a rating of less than four stars in our data section. To think that, until recently, a top-rank sports car – the R8 – headlined Audi’s line-up, is like imagining your dad as the world disco dancing champion of 1978.
