You can’t go running in St Albans without a visit to Verulamium Park. There’s something really peaceful about running around the lake, past the ruins and stopping by the cathedral. This route, which you can vary daily, will keep you motivated and is a real treat compared to running in London. St Albans is quite built up so consider laps at Verulamium Park or head into the wood near Batchwood and Childwickbury. Head north up Waverley Road and Townsend Drive following your nose until you reach the top of St Peter’s Street, from there it’s a straight, flat route into the city centre.
