Building strength needn’t require lots of kit or a costly gym membership. Floor space and good form is enough
Whether you’re just underway with a resolution to run more in 2023, or you’re a big fan of running but looking to pop some extra power into your training plan, these eight simple exercises will work the legs and core muscles for better running performance and fewer injuries.
What you’ll need
Floor space – and weights for increased intensity
Warm-up
Warm up by running on the spot for a minute followed by 10 star jumps. Repeat twice.
Sets & reps
Beginner: Two sets of 10 reps
Intermediate:
Two sets of 20 reps
Advanced: Three sets of 20 reps
Cooldown
Stretch your glutes, quads and hamstrings after the session. Hold each stretch for 20 seconds. Repeat twice on each muscle group.
