I’ve finally finished decorating my spare room. Don’t worry, I haven’t confused this with a column for Good Homes magazine –we’ll get to the running in a bit, trust me.

I moved into my house nearly four years ago and the spare room was the last to get painted. As much as I’d love to have done everything in one go, time, energy and money only stretch so far. Something I’ve learnt over years of juggling work, parenting, running and everything else is that some things in life simply have to go on the backburner for a while.
