SPOTLIGHT ON…
Folkestone Writers
‘Folkestone Writers has now been in existence for six years and has evolved during this time into something rather different from the original concept,’ writes John Sussams.
‘In the first instance we had a group of people who expected to read out short pieces for discussion and constructive criticism at regular monthly meetings. This didn’t work very well because the only kind of writing which fits easily into this time frame is a short story of up to about 2,000 words. Many writers of longer works of fiction and of non-fiction were not interested in this kind of writing. And of those who were, most were not prolific enough to contribute to more than one or two meetings.
