Climate change and other threats to the environment have become part of the global conversation in the last few years, and this is reflected in the growing popularity of books about the natural world. There is even a whole new genre of fiction, cli-fi, where environmental issues play an important part in the story. With World Earth Day coming up in April, our theme for this month is the natural world Free-range writing is personal writing – you don’t have to worry about whether it’s any good, because no-one else is going to read it. That means your inner critic can’t get a look in, although you might well stumble upon ideas you want to work up later into finished pieces. There’s only one rule – stick to the timings.
