THIRD PLACE
REMEMBRANCE
By Amitha Rajan
Amitha is a keen reader who’s had a lifelong affair with English literature. After writing poetry on and off for a few years, she has recently started writing flash fiction and short stories. She hopes to write a novel one day. In addition to telling stories, she enjoys going on long walks, baking, and gardening.
She looks out the window at the foggy morning. The lantern head of a black streetlamp cuts through the mist, its body completely obscured. Across the street, the golden leaves of a balding tree fall one at a time.
