Writing is all about repeat business, says Adrian Magson
Adrian Magson
Afriend of mine is, like me, self-employed. As a jobbing builder he uses power tools, brushes and paint rather than a computer and printer (and spends a lot less time sitting down than I do). We both work irregular hours, often with deadlines to get a project done and approved, and with no corporate back-up of any kind. We’re part of a large workforce of sole employees, with no water-cooler gatherings to have a whinge about the state of the nation, the working conditions or our fellow employees (we don’t have any).
And we share something else in common.
We work in what is essentially a repeat business. In my friend’s case, it’s build, mend, paint, move on and repeat. In mine it’s write, research, edit, write, edit, submit… and repeat.
