Writing Magazine presents a selection of paying feminist/empowering magazines/ websites currently accepting contributions. We strongly recommend that you read back issues, familiarise yourself with their guidelines before submitting and check websites for submission details.
Simply Vegan, edited by Holly Johnson, is a vegan food and lifestyle magazine launched in 2018 by Anthem Publishing, who also produce Vegan Food and Living Magazine (edited by Sally Fitzgerald). Aimed at making veganism easy and practical on a daily basis, it covers food, fashion and beauty and nutrition advice. Holly is happy to hear from writers with pitches about vegan ethics, environmentalism related to vegan living, cruelty-free beauty, fitness on a plant-based diet, sustainable vegan fashion, sustainable vegan fashion and vegan nutrition. Veggie Magazine, edited by Sian Bunney, is the UK’s leading vegetarian lifestyle magazine, with feature coverage including cruelty-free beauty and eco living as well as food and nutrition. Each month the magazine features vegetarian and vegan recipes as well as advice about plant-based eating. Much of the content comes from regular contributors, with the occasional use of established freelance writers working to a brief set by Sian. Payment varies.

The Vegan Magazine, edited by Elena Orde, is the members’ publication of the Vegan Society, which is also on sale through the website. Published four times a year, it includes articles on vegan activism, vegan lifestyle, ideas, inspiration, recipes and more. Elena is happy to accept pitches for features articles and also welcomes contributions for reviews section, which covers books, films and cafés/restaurants. Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine, which has Brenda Carey as its editor in chief, is based in the US and is on a mission to make the world a healthier and more compassionate place. It covers vegan lifestyle, nutrition and health from a global perspective, with recipes and articles on health and science, profile pieces, fitness inspiration and advice.
