American Miniaturist  |  Issue 250
Have you ever noticed grumpy people don’t have fun interests? I count my blessings daily that I have a great relationship with my inner child. As miniaturists, we all have a deep connection to that part of ourselves.
Letting your inner child play is so very important for good mental health. It helps cope with stress, gives us more energy and creates a more compassionate relationship with ourselves. But keep in mind that connecting to your inner child is not only about letting yourself play but also about self nurturing any past hurts as children.
Growing up can be tough for so many different reasons. When I was 23, I went to a therapist to deal with a difficult childhood. This is when I was taught how to become a mother figure to my inner child. I became my own protector and nurturer. It helped me feel safe and loved. Once you truly love yourself you won’t put up with any mistreatment from anyone in your life.
Miniatures are a fantastic way to give your inner child playtime. It feels like pure freedom! When I walk into a miniature show I suddenly see all of us as children running around and having the best time ever! We are starry eyed and full of giggles. It’s such a happy state of mind to be a miniaturist! Be sure to show your inner child immense love everyday. I bet they get excited when they get the newest American Miniaturist in the mail.
