Bead & Jewellery Magazine  |  Issue 140
As we head into the party season we bring you a wonderful array of sparkling projects.
If you’re after a sophisticated style then take a look at Lynn Davy’s beautiful crystal collar. She’s used subtle pink shades for a gentle feel, but you can switch up the colour combos for everything from rainbow stripes to jazzy patterns.
If you need something a little more formal then Giulia de Cesare’s majestic medallions might be the way to go. She conjures up images of medieval and Tudor jewellery with a lavish motif necklace.
But if you want go-girl glamour then Sarah Burnett-Moore has the answer using basic beading and embroidery skills to create a pair of stunning Soutache earrings.
Lynda Pearce combines two of her favourite materials to demo some crystal clay and wirework techniques These sparkling flowers are satisfying to make and the unusual and dramatic effect is just totally reminiscent of a frost morning in January.
It will soon be the time when crocuses start poking their heads above the ground, and it was just such a pretty scene that inspired Lesley Messam to create her gemstone ring with touches of bright colours. If you’ve never used art clay before, the New Year might be a good time to give it a go. And if you don’t fancy the ring, then how about a 1930’s masterpiece? Lesley combines fused glass with silver clay for a striking pendant based on Mondrian’s grid-based paintings.
Beaded cufflinks are quite unusual, but Kerrie Slade has designed two beautiful sets and we all think they look amazing. Great gift idea too.
Marcia L. Balonis shows us how to create a stunning bracelet combining bead embroidery and weaving. Her sapphire colours are perfect for winter, but you can simply change the combinations for a very different look for any season.
We hope you enjoy the vast array of designs we’ve brought you this issue, and all that’s left is for us to wish you a very beady Christmas and a happy New Year.
