WALK YOUR WAY TO WELLBEING
Strength training prevents falls, improves mood, betters sleep, increases energy and even reduces risk of an early death, according to a Public Health England and the Centre for Ageing Better review. Women are recommended to do strength exercises that hit all the major muscles at least twice a week, but only one in four of us manage it – and our bodies are paying the price; UK workers are collectively missing 30.8 million days of work thanks to musculoskeletal conditions. The researchers said that the best activities for muscle and bone strengthening were ball games, racket sports, dance, Nordic walking and resistance training, which sounds pretty fun. So make variety the spice of your workout life!
