Over the weekend of 22 and 23 April 2023 modellers from across Europe and the world congregated in the small Hungarian town of Mosonmagyaróvár for the 25th Jubilee edition of the Moson Show. For those of you who aren’t aware of the show, it was originally organised by a group of friends at a local modelling club and has over the years grown to be one of Europe’s – and indeed the world’s – premier model shows. The show, which is free to enter, is well supported by clubs and traders and hosted at the spacious UFM sports arena. The main attraction though is the competition which brings together probably the best collection of scale models in the world under one roof. This year there were a staggering 3,500 or so models entered covering every aspect of the hobby. Some indication of the scale of the event is given by the fact that there are no fewer than eighteen different armour modelling classes for adult modellers. These are divided between ‘hobby’ and ‘master’ categories, the latter being for modellers who have previously been recognised in Moson Show competitions or simply want to have their work judged against the best in the world. There is a full list of the winners available on the Show’s Facebook page (simply search for ‘Moson Show’) but for the purposes of this report, I’ve simply included some of the pieces that caught my eye among the many hundreds entered in the armour classes.
