Argyll is facing a health crisis of that there is no doubt. This week members of the public met in the Rockfield Centre in Oban to discuss new a GP contract which comes into force on Sunday April 1, and which is likely to lead to rural practices losing doctors and services, according to patients and GPs.
Next week the Integrated Joint Board which oversees Argyll and Bute’s Health and Social Care Partnership has the difficult job of of deciding which cuts to adopt in a bid to save £13million from its £263m budget for 2018-19. Those cuts could include more than 400 people losing their jobs, and a range of closures and privatisation options.
