The reverse bucket list

Like many of us, Rin Hamburgh has a catalogue of things she wants to see and do – but, recently, she’s started to wonder: am I looking at it the wrong way?

Making lists and planning things is one of my favourite pastimes – so imagining all the thrilling activities I can do, and incredible sights I can see, is a pleasurable way of whiling away a couple of hours.

My bucket list has 60 items on it, ranging from sleeping in a tree house and knitting a pair of socks, to taking at least one surfing lesson and clapping eyes on the Northern Lights. I am not alone in this ‘daydreaming’ way of thinking – even celebrities and high-profile people, from Oprah Winfrey to Barack Obama, have joined the ‘compiling a bucket list’ trend that’s so popular with young and old.
