Nature’s guide
Discover your tree sign and what it can tell you according to the Celtic tree calendar
Similar to the western and Chinese astrological zodiac signs, the Celtic tree calendar is governed by the lunar month and based on the ancient ogham alphabet, which was used mainly to write Old Irish, and also Old Welsh and Pictish. Some believe that it was conceived by British author, poet and scholar Robert Graves, who discussed it in his 1948 book, The White Goddess. While its beginnings may be uncertain, the tree calendar, of which there are a few variations, has been widely embraced by pagans and nature lovers alike.
Using the calendar
Each lunar month (of which there are 13) is represented by a tree, which has specific relatable qualities. Each tree has a particular energy and can act as a totem, symbol of good fortune or guiding light. Meditate with the tree associated with your birth date, take note of any wisdom seeds received and draw upon its strengths for assistance on life’s journey. Whether considered a triviality or deeply meaningful, the calendar can also be used to reflect on each tree’s qualities to gain additional insights through the year.
