Scandi-inspired extension

A single-storey L-shaped addition has brought a larger living space to this terraced home. The young family were fast outgrowing their property and sought to improve it to better suit their needs, rather than move away. So, James Dale Architects created a new kitchen-diner and extra built-in storage.
Working with a modest budget of £83,000, there were multiple reviews into products and materials that would fulfil the brief within the available funds. The owners were heavily influenced by Scandi design, so have gone for larch cladding externally and minimalist finishes inside – pine floors, exposed beams and plywood walls.
