Timber is a renewable resource, so using it to clad your home will add to your project’s green credentials – but only if it’s from a responsiblymanaged forest where there’s an effective replanting scheme in place. “Always ask where the wood has come from,” says Tom Barnes from Vastern Timber. “Has the merchant visited the woodland, for instance? Was the product machined in the UK or overseas?”
