It’s been an uneven century for Suede so far. From widespread success in the 90s as part of the Britpop boom – though they tend to reject that association – they came to an abrupt halt in 2003 thanks in large part to frontman Brett Anderson’s welldocumented struggle with drugs.
A seminal reunion gig at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust in 2010 saw them given a new burst of energy, though, and numerous gigs on this latest tour have had a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’feel about them. They’re a band that are clearly enthused to be on stage and grateful for their fans – the Insatiable Ones fan club gets a special mention every night.
