ADAM LAMBERT
HIGH DRAMA
WARNER
★★★★
As a way of escaping the shadow of his grisly existence since 2014 as Karaoke Freddie in the dignity-dodging Queen + Adam Lambert roadshow, a covers album seems a strange move. You want to redefine yourself away from Queen’s penny-chasing charabanc with more cover versions? Hmm.
And yet… Being a judge on an ITV talent show hosted by Olly Murs via last year’s Starstruck seemingly acting as the wake-up call he needed, here Lambert brings the extravagance and sauce that first made him a star with, well, cover versions on American Idol in 2009.
