A NIGHT LIKE THIS IN WALES PROVES WELL WORTH THE WAIT FOR FANS, AS THE CURE SHOWCASE SONGS OF A LOST WORLD DURING A CAREER-SPANNING SET
As the sound of rain echoes and lighting flashes to match the intermittent rumble of thunder, dry ice floods the stage to set the scene for show number 40 of The Cure’s mammoth 44-date Lost World European Tour.
While the rest of the band emerges slowly from the shadows to take their place on stage, frontman Robert Smith wanders to the front where he purposefully gazes into the crowd to personally thank and acknowledge every member of the audience. As the singer steps back to join his colleagues, a brooding instrumental intro gives way to Alone, the first of five new tracks which we’d later be promised, “won’t be new for much longer.”
