When the news broke last November that Haircut 100 would be reuniting for a one-off show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire this May to mark the 40th (pandemic adjusted) anniversary of their debut album, Pelican West, it was met with nothing short of a feeding frenzy by all manner of music fans.
The feverish reaction to the news can be explained by several defining factors. That remarkable debut studio LP is a much-loved classic from our favourite decade of music, of course, but there’s also a sense of unfinished business at play here.
