MORCHEEBA
BLACKEST BLUE
FLY AGARIC
Morcheeba have now been soundtracking breakups, comedowns and dinner parties for a quarter of a century, outliving almost every trip-hop survivor and more productive than most of them, too. They’ve also endured personnel complications, with singer Skye Edwards temporarily eased out, and then re-embraced, while co-founder Paul Godfrey, brother of songwriter Ross, has gone for good since 2014. Their blood pressure remains stable, nonetheless: their history remains more tumultuous than their music, and their 10th album, Blackest Blue, is as chilled out as we’ve come to expect, with one song even called Namaste and another, Oh Oh Yeah, about getting stoned.
