Previous Madness Record Store Day compilations have done a good job of hoovering up their B-sides and other non-album songs. While the band are obviously experts with a cover version, an album of them feels more of a ‘What can we do for RSD?’ release than anything fans need to own. Turning Grieg’s classical staple In The Hall Of The Mountain King into a Nutty Boys stomp is the highlight of the obscurities here but, when proper covers album The Dangermen Sessions Vol.1 didn’t really work, why would this compilation be any more coherent?
