SUPERSTAR LYDIA MURDOCK
Taking on the role of Billie Jean was a courageous move, but US soul singer Lydia Murdock did it rather well, almost to the point of impertinence, thus creating the most prominent answer song of the 80s. Not only did she deliver a caustic, vengeful, yet witty lyric as the titular character made notorious by Michael Jackson, she had the nerve to sing it over a pastiche of Quincy Jones’ original arrangement.
