Goth-pop’s poster girl takes charge on album number two.
Fronted by Amy Lee –a Sugar Plum Fairy reimagined by Tim Burton –Evanescence’s 2003 debut album Fallen chimed with the times to the tune of 17 million sales. Relatively speaking, record label bean counters surely viewed 2006’s The Open Door as a flop. That followup was no picnic to make, either, with Lee’s original co-writer Ben Moody departing the line-up and her new one, guitarist Terry Balsamo, suffering a thrombotic stroke.
