THE HARD STUFF REISSUES
Queen
Greatest Hits VIRGIN EMI
Aptly named. Ever popular. Record breaking. It’s all about the numbers.
Number crunchers at the UK’s Official Charts Company reckon one in four British households already own a copy of Queen’s Greatest Hits. So if you or your next-door neighbours don’t, then that nice couple across the street do.
Almost 40 years after its original release and half a century since Queen formed, it’s now reissued in new packaging. Although having previously spent more than 900 weeks on the UK chart and accrued 6.75 million sales here alone, there can’t be many Queen fans (committed or casual) who don’t already own it. Mind you, 1,000 of them have long-since spent £54.99 at the band’s official online store on a one-percustomer set comprising CD, Brian May and Roger Taylor autographs, badge and four limited-edition coloured cassette versions (each featuring just one band member on its cover).
