We started Elephant Box because we wanted to buy a high quality long lasting lunchbox to replace the disappointing plastic ones that we kept buying (and throwing away) for our kids. However, at the time we couldn’t find anything suitable. We thought that we couldn’t be the only people who were looking for products like this, so we started our own company to make them ourselves. We wanted to create a brand that people could trust and that sold things which would help people live a life with less waste.
Our business is part of 1% For The Planet (onepercentfortheplanet.org) where companies pledge to give one per cent of their annual turnover to not-for-profit environmental projects and initiatives. We think it’s really important to support projects whose motivation is just to do good and make a positive difference. We feel really privileged to be able to give back in this way. If you only have to buy something once, and don’t have to replace it every year, you will consume less, which in turn uses less of the Earth’s resources. We also think that if we provide products that make it easy to take your food with you, then you’ll avoid all the plastic packaging that is associated with shop bought lunches.
