Q. Tell us about your path into art
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved to draw. As a child, I would spend my Saturday mornings with my pencil and sketchbook in hand, drawing my favourite cartoons in front of the TV. As I got older, my passion for art continued to grow. I loved exploring different materials and enjoyed the challenge of creating something with my own hands. From 2004-2008, I attended Montclair State University where I received my bachelor’s degree in art education. Just two months after graduating, I landed my dream job as an art teacher at Clinton Elementary School in Maplewood, New Jersey, where I taught for ten years. While teaching full time, I developed a small business and started selling my artwork at local stores, markets and online under the name @turnstyleart.
