There’s good and bad to everything, and social media is no exception. While it’s important to take a break and keep in touch with real life, the online community can also be a very uplifting and empowering place. It’s one way of finding a loving relationship – according to research from Stanford University, four in 10 heterosexual couples, and six in 10 same-sex couples who got together in 2017 met online. It’s also crucial in helping to educate and spread awareness of important global topics at the click of a button, thanks to the power of hashtags. For others, social media enabled them to launch their businesses and connect with customers. Keen to hear about some of these positive experiences for ourselves, naturally, we took to our own social media to ask our lovely followers to share their stories with us. Here’s what they said.

Social media has been the biggest help in kick-starting my sustainability journey. I run an eco-lifestyle blog and Instagram account, and I have met so many people who care about the planet as much as me via the platform. It is also fab for getting new ideas and connecting with ethical brands that I never would have found otherwise. Not to mention, it also holds me accountable, as I feel I have to do my online friends proud and encourage myself as much as I encourage them to keep going. There’s a huge community out there, and it’s amazing to see so many people come together for the same cause.
