A TRIP TO TUNISIA SPARKS THE ACTIVIST IN ELEANOR MARGOLIS
“I wish Pride still had the political bite it once did”
As I write this, I’m on my way – for the first time in my life – to a country where homosexuality is illegal. Not just frowned upon, as in several countries I’ve visited, but punishable by a 30-year prison sentence.
With this in mind, a trip to Tunisia may seem an odd choice for my girlfriend’s 30th. Somewhere that, before travel, requires entirely humourless discussions about PDA (something I will strictly not be practising in public for the next week).
