BFI FLARE PREVIEW
LEZ/BI HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS YEAR’S BFI FLARE
In a tempestuous sea of uncertainty, BFI Flare – formerly the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival – is a beautiful queer island of tranquility, giving audiences a space to bask in the beauty and creativity of our community.
Now in its 32nd year, the festival spans 10 days, and is the biggest in Europe. Last year’s sapphic offerings were sublime, with our highlights including the stunning Korey of four lesbians who were wrongly accused of abusing two young children and went on to spend 16 years in prison before finally being exonerated.
So what’s on the slate for 2018? “It’s a good year for lesbians at Flare, I’ll say that!,” BFI Flare programmer Emma Smom serious drama, to laugh out loud comedy, to lesbian vampires – we’ve got it all this year. And there’s a wealth of talent both on screen and behind the camera making this one of the strongest line up of films for years.”
