T here is a slightly tragic beauty to Marvel’s Avengers, which may be an odd thing to say about one of the biggest pop-culture brands in the world. But the best-laid schemes of mice and mega-publishers gang aft agley, and this hybrid of singleplayer campaign and multiplayer endgame has, from launch, failed to cohere in any way that has kept players interested. It’s a flop.
