Sony’s State Of Play broadcast seems to have largely avoided direct comparison with its closest rival’s showcase – indeed, it’s hard not to think that was a key consideration in choosing to position the event at the very beginning of June. It’s quietly telling that PlayStation 5’s biggest draw was a game not published by the platform holder itself: a fact that will surely have caused some internal consternation at Sony, if not embarrassment.
