Going back to any series after a long break is fraught with risk, especially when it’s one as beloved as Monkey Island. Though a few fans of 2009’s Tales Of Monkey Island will have their own opinions, it’s those who cut their adventuring teeth on the first two games in particular who are, well, particular about what a new entry should look like. It’s fair to say the initial response to this was mixed, with Rex Crowle’s angular art style the main bone of contention. We’re not too young to remember people getting up in arms about the cartoonish aesthetic adopted in 2001’s Escape From Monkey Island. Our two penn’orth? It works a treat, especially now we can see how it looks in motion.
