GOTHAM KNIGHTS
Developer/publisher Warner Bros Games (Montreal) Format PC, PS5, Xbox Series Release October 25
As fourplayer coop successors to the Arkham games go, Gotham Knights is the Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge to Suicide Squad’s Bonestorm. This situation has been exacerbated by delays – its original release date last year would have left a little more breathing room – but it’s hard to watch any footage of it and not find ourselves thinking about Rocksteady’s next assault on the DC universe instead. For Knights’ appearance at Summer Game Fest, the baffling decision is made to put a solo spotlight on Nightwing, a hero whose acrobatic abilities look just as solid now as they did when he was introduced as an Arkham City DLC character back in 2011. Perhaps that sense of overfamiliarity will rub off as we get to grips with the other three heroes – though it’s hard to imagine any of them competing with the appeal of a musclebound, tank-top-wearing shark.
