Most likely taken from black and white prints, these porcelain figures of a Jewish man and woman were created c.1740 during the Qianlong period.
The pair, decorated in overglaze famille rose enamels and gold, provide an insight into how Western prints of models were interpreted by Chinese potters and transformed into three-dimensional forms.
