Sotheby’s Important Chinese Art sale on November 3 includes a group of Chinese porcelains, jades and small works of art from the collection, formed by Marcus Ezekiel (1854-1927) and his son Victor (1905-76) in the first part of the 20th century. Both were early members of the Oriental Ceramic Society.
This small celadon-glazed jar and cover, typical of the revivalist pieces made in the pioneering years of the Yongzheng (1722-35) period, has a provenance to the International Exhibition of Chinese Art at the Royal Academy in 1935-36.
Estimate £100,000-150,000.
