HENNING WEHN GERMANY
What’s the first game you attended?
I think it was in the 1979-80 season: Bochum vs Braunschweig. My father worked in the steel industry – just like everyone back then – and had clients in Bochum, so I’d watch them quite regularly with his work colleagues. My first Germany game was when I was eight: an under-15 match against Holland in our local stadium. I’ve tried so hard to get a team-sheet from that game because I’ve got no idea who played in it – there may have been the cream of German and Dutch football, or maybe all of them went forgotten without turning professional. Consider this my appeal…
Who was your childhood hero? Did you meet them?
