‘Being in the mountains makes my soul sing’
“I take every opportunity I can to spend time with them,” she says
Her hair blowing in the wind, Chemmy Alcott races downhill against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains that glisten in the sunlight.
The four-time Winter Olympics ski racer is never happier than when she’s on the slopes, and this time she’s overjoyed to be joined by her two young sons, Lochlan, five, and three-year-old Cooper, who definitely appear to have inherited their mum’s passion for winter sports.
“Being in the mountains makes my soul sing,” Chemmy tells HELLO! in this exclusive photoshoot and interview in the Swiss Alps.
“Breathing mountain air and being among the scenery makes you feel alive and unbelievably healthy. Skiing gives the freedom that you’re in control of your destiny in the most epic surroundings.”
With Europe’s ski resorts opening up to British tourists after being hit by the pandemic, families are flocking to the slopes and Chemmy feels lucky to have spent the past few weeks in Switzerland presenting the BBC’s Ski Sunday. After having to travel without her boys last year, she’s thrilled they can be with her this time.
