Last month, we featured model Zander Hodgson — now Attitude chats to his boyfriend, Instagram influencer Troy Pes, who tells us about being a child actor in Venezuela, creating amazing content, and the plastic crisis…

In the eight years that Instagram has been a thing, it’s changed the way we present ourselves online, interact with each other, and the way we perceive celebrity. Its cultural currency dwarfs many other social-media platforms, and so far — while others have come and gone — it continues its meteoric rise.

Having recently surpassed one billion users globally, it’s given rise to a new breed of celebrities: the influencer.

So, meet Troy Pes, one such influencer whose Instagram followers number close to 400,000 at the time of writing. The 27-yearold Venezuelan, who now lives in LA, was quick to see the potential of the platform as a way to showcase his creativity and to make money, curating his feed and soon getting the attention of brands keen to tap into this new form of marketing.

We shot Troy in London on the same day as his boyfriend Zander Hodgson, the British model and our cover star last month, and the pair aren’t shy about cosying up together for a few photos at the end of the day. When I meet Troy in London a month later, they’ve just returned to the UK after trips to Paris, Tuscany and Morocco, documenting their adventures via both of their Instagram accounts. We sit on the dry, cracked earth of St James’s Park to talk about his life as a socialmedia star, his relationship with Zander, and his desire to use his platform for a greater good.
