While the Land Rover has been with us since 1948, Land Rover as a company was only formed as a separate entity thirty years later. It entered the 1980s with a range of just two models, inherited from its former Rover parent company. The Series Land Rover was an evolution of a thirty year old design, while the Range Rover had been selling for ten years with only detail changes. During the next decade, the company would not only launch a thorough revision of its core model, but it would push the Range Rover upmarket and develop the Range Rover-based Discovery to counter Japanese competition. This decade would shape the company we know today more than any other. Within this 100-page publication, we will chart Land Rover’s highs and lows during its 1980s transition from fledgling company with two ageing models to a thoroughly revamped and dynamic range of three distinct families – from the Series 3 through the Stage One V8 and the Range Rover to the 90/110 and Discovery models. Packed with facts and figures, superb cars and entertaining features, it’s a bookazine that any Land Rover enthusiast will want to add to their collection.
