Dancing Times  |  December 2013
As Christmas approaches, it’s hard to believe we are at the end of another year packed with dance, a fact underlined by the announcement of the nominations for the 2013 Dance Critics’ Circle Awards, which are listed in full on page 7.
This month, we have a theme relating to British ballet and its style running throughout the magazine, from Clement Crisp’s Talking Point on the genetics of The Royal Ballet on page 12 to Patricia Linton’s thoughts on the staging of choreography by Frederick Ashton in the 21st century following the symposium held by The Frederick Ashton Foundation at The Royal Ballet School. On page 29, Gerald Dowler pays tribute to Anthony Dowell, that most British of male dancers, and he also wonders what if there had been no Ninette de Valois on page 19.
Also this month, on page 61, we launch a new regular column, Notes from New York, where Jack Anderson will be reporting on the Big Apple’s lively dance scene. Finally, a reminder to subscribers of the printed magazine that our offer of free access to digital copies of Dancing Times comes to an end on January 2, 2014. Which just leaves me to wish all our readers, whether in print or digitally, a very Merry Christmas!
