FlyPast Magazine March 2019 Edizione posteriore

English
225 Recensioni   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Aviation)
Only €5,99
The March 2019 issue of FlyPast tells the story of a Lockheed P-38 Lightning that has recently been returned to flight in the US and features exclusive air-to-air images from David Leininger of this distinctive machine in formation with one of its fork-tailed brethren. Engineer Ashley Ezell and aviation historian Kevin Grantham team up to describe a remarkable rebirth for one of World War Two’s most immediately identifiable fighters.

Heinkel Spotlight
The remarkable Heinkel He 219 ‘Uhu’ (owl) is the subject of this month’s Spotlight section. Featuring rarely seen images and world exclusive artwork, we dig into the little-known history of this potent Luftwaffe night-fighter.

Typhoon ace
A memoir written by the RAF’s highest-scoring Hawker Typhoon ace, the late Wg Cdr Johnny Baldwin, is presented by his son James.

Mastering the Harrier
Roy Gamblin recounts his time learning to fly the legendary Harrier jump jet with the RAF.

Pilot profile – Neville Duke
Ken Ellis and Graham Pitchfork outline the extraordinary career of one of Britain’s greatest aviators.

Starfighter lives on
Luigino Caliaro explores the roles of F-104s operated by civilian contractor Starfighters Aerospace.

We also celebrate the return to the air of a fourth de Havilland Mosquito - PZ474 has made its first post-restoration flight in New Zealand and it’s not the only debutante this month. We also look at a CT-133 Silver Star that has roared back into Canadian skies following sterling work in London, Ontario. Elsewhere, Ken Ellis reflects on Britain’s bizarre series of prone-pilot prototypes, where the pilot would effectively lie flat to fly the aircraft. Jürgen Schelling takes to the air in a freshly restored DH Dove and Sean Feast describes action in the powerful but flawed Bristol Brigand.

Digital subscription for Flypast magazine

I have purchased the Flypast magazine for many years and generally as a hard copy. However, for the last couple of years l have subscribed annually to the digital version and now read on my iPad.
The magazine is great and I always find the content interesting and varied and never bored with the topics covered. Whilst previously enjoying the hard copy l am now a devoted digital subscriber and would recommend this version. On the downside you miss out on add ons such as calendars etc.
