Personal trainer and founder of The Vegan Body Plan (veganbodyplan.com), Michael Roberts, explains why establishing your reason to go vegan is a powerful first step…
Michael urges would-be vegans to consider their ‘why’
“As with any goal or lifestyle change, you need a reason for doing it. Willpower alone is often not enough, so you need to have a crystal clear ‘why’ for making the change. There are three common reasons for going vegan: ethics and animal cruelty; health; and the environment. “Whether it’s all three, or maybe just one or two, be clear on what this reason is for you. For most people, seeing the horror that goes on in a slaughterhouse to put meat on their plate is reason enough. For others, it’s more about health: the consumption of animal products has been shown to contribute to all the leading killer diseases. A plant-based diet is best for long-term health. For others, their ‘why’ is the disastrous effect animal agriculture has on the environment. “To ensure your vegan journey is sustainable, have an image in your head that embodies your ‘why’, that you can easily refer to.”
