Original, unpublished, fictional stories of a maximum 1,700 words on the theme of ‘Borders’ is wanted for the York Amnesty International Group Short Story Competition. The winner will receive £50 plus website publication and a signed first edition copy of York-based author Fiona Shaw’s latest novel. You must be over sixteen years of age to enter and based in the UK. No entry should have been shortlisted or won any other competition.
Format your entry as a double spaced doc file. The entry fee is £5 by cheque or postal order made payable to ‘Amnesty International York’. Write your full name on the back and in an included note saying whether you have entered online or by post. All proceeds from the competition will go towards Amnesty’s human rights campaigns.
The closing date for entries is Human Rights Day, 10 December. Ten writers will be shortlisted and the winner announced by 15 March 2018.
