Devils do the tough stuff
SALFORD RED DEVILS 14 CASTLEFORD TIGERS 6
MARK TAYLOR
Salford City Stadium, Thursday
SALFORD RED DEVILS have earned a reputation for fastflowing football in the last two years, but this was a game where they found a way to win despite not being at their best.
They made it back-to-back wins with what can best be described as a hard-earned success over a stubborn Castleford side who still haven’t won away from home this season.
Australian forward Shane Wright scored the only try of the second half after the sides had been locked at 6-6, with the Tigers unable to build on a bright start which saw Greg Eden score in the third minute.
A “relieved” Paul Rowley said: “We came through a really tough game at Leigh on Saturday then came up against a Castleford team tonight that had plenty of motivation and some good players.
