Fedora vs Ubuntu
I’ve been installing Ubuntu 22.04 and Fedora 36. (I’m using the DVD from
Linux Pro
magazine – thanks for continuing to provide a DVD! In the past when a Linux magazine quits including a DVD it has fairly quickly quit publishing the magazine, too – asubscription renewal consideration.) Fedora 36 has installed very smoothly, and Ubuntu a little less so. Ubuntu 22.04 runs fine – it was just getting it on to the partition I wanted that was difficult. Using the “Windows” button to make the Fedora 36 GNOME dock appear is feeling a very comfortable choice – and then having the full screen available.
For me, based on current experiences, the “Ubuntu Snaps under fire” concerns pointed out in issue LXF291 is just one of several reasons for me to prefer Fedora 36 now. I wish that both of your Linux magazines devoted more attention to Fedora. I have appreciated the focus
Linux Format
provides for Ubuntu and just wish that Fedora had similar amounts of coverage, so that Fedora could attract more users.
