The Verdict
Creative-writing tools
Once you’ve started using a creative-writing tool to help plan and plot your story, you won’t revert to relying on a single LibreOffice Writer document for your stories ever again. All five tools in this Roundup will help you organise your existing notes into some coherent whole. They’ll also assist you with capturing ideas as they form while providing a relatively easy means of getting your story down on paper.
There’s a reason why none of the tools here secured a 9/10 rating – even the very best lacked useful features found in rival programs. Nevertheless, we have no hesitation in making Bibisco our winner. While you may baulk at the asking price, there’s plenty in the free Community Edition to showcase its capabilities: a slick (if not quite perfect) user interface that organises everything logically, along with key functionality. Investing in the Supporter Edition is advisable, however. You unlock Bibisco’s full capabilities, and you may be able to steer future development. We’d love to see support for multi-tabs, for example.
