GENERAL macOS TIPS
1. CAN’T FIND macOS UPDATES
Restart your Mac, give it a couple of minutes, then open System Settings > General > Software Update again.
2. CAN’T INSTALL UPDATES
Start up in Safe Mode and use System Settings > General > Software Update there instead.
3. PROBLEMS AFTER AN UPDATE
Start up in Safe Mode, leave your Mac a couple of minutes, then restart it again in normal mode.
4. FORCE APP STORE UPDATES
In the app, open the Discover page. Once that has loaded, select Updates and press Cmd+R to force it to refresh.
5. CHARGING YOUR MAC’S KEYBOARD OR TRACKPAD
When charging, they’re grayed out in the Bluetooth menu. Check when they reach 100% in System Settings > Keyboard or Trackpad, where their charge is reported.
6. GLITCHY FONTS
Open the Font Book app and disable or remove any old or defective fonts reported there.
7. ACCENTED CHARACTERS
Press and hold a non–repeating character key for a pop–up menu of accented and other variants of that character.
8. MISSING SAVE AS
In apps that don’t offer the Save As command in their normal File menu, hold the Opt key then open that menu.
